Wupatki Indian Ruins, Sunset Crater, Meteor Crater, the Painted Desert, and the Petrified Forest each make a nice day trip, as well as the Verde Valley Railway and Grand Canyon Railway rides. The Grand Canyon is also easily a day trip. Take the kids to Out of Africa close by for a fun day with the wild animals.
